About cf also

My name is Gabriel Uriarte and I welcome you to a new home for my work.  With a talent for awkward names dating back to when an obsession with Alastair Horne's Verdun book led me to name my first e-mail account in Argentina "gericht@", I have has named this newsletter/blog after an abbreviation used in footnotes. "Cf also" or "compare also" is used when a different but related point is available in another work. A great deal of my education has come from following up this kind of recommendation in footnotes, and such originality as I can offer often comes from the unusual intersection of my interests.
